About Me

I am a consultant interventional cardiologist in London and former NHS Clinical Director, leading care delivery and whole service transformation in hospital and community settings. I have a research background with a basic science PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine and have led clinical trials and research in interventional cardiology. I have extensive leadership experience in both public and private sectors, combining clinical expertise with executive and non-executive board roles. I lead with a collaborative approach to foster strong partnerships and alliances, and am committed to excellent patient care and innovation in medical education.

 I have over 20 years of experience in digital media and online networks, most notably with  MedShr, the award-winning medical education platform. Launched in 2015 MedShr connects more than 2.5 million doctors and healthcare professionals in 195 countries through clinical case discussion and peer-to-peer learning, working in partnership with over 200 national and specialist medical societies.

Since 2020 I have been a  Governor / Director of Bradford Grammar School. I was invited to join the governing body to leverage my expertise in online education, digital engagement, and fundraising. I am active in promoting innovation in music, drama, sports, and technology for young people.

I am a Trustee of Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture. As a board member for this year-long program featuring more than 1,000 new cultural events we are responsible for a £40m budget, projected to create 6,000+ jobs and contribute £300m+ GVA to Bradford in 2025.

    Dr Asif Qasim holds an MB, BChir, MA, and PhD from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). He has received numerous accolades, including the Sir Isaac Newton Bursary and the Inspiring Entrepreneur Award, reflecting his academic excellence and leadership contributions. He met HM King Charles III at Windsor Castle in July 2024, receiving a King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation for MedShr.

    Dr Qasim has peer-reviewed publications in cardiovascular medicine, including research on interventional cardiology, drug-eluting stents, and myocardial repair. His work has been published in leading journals such as BMJ, Heart, and Circulation, with recent papers on clinical case sharing and presentations on digital medical education at international medical congresses including TCT and the American Society of Hematology.
