NHS Practice
Dr Asif Qasim provides direct patient care in general and interventional cardiology, with a focus on complex percutaneous procedures, and leading advancements in clinical services including a transformative role as Clinical Director. He is actively involved in national and international teaching, research and education.
- Early adoption of Radial First and Day Case PCI from 2009 
- Founder and Course Director London IVUS and Pressure Wire Course (2008-2012) 
- Successfully designed and developed Croydon Heart Centre, opened in 2011 and now delivering high-quality local care to 40,000+ patients annually 
- Improved Croydon Heart Failure Services with One Stop HF Clinic, Integrated HF Specialist Nursing Services and two NHS England National Priority Projects 
- Initiated Treat and Return at Croydon providing urgent inpatient procedures for hospitals in south London, including angiography, PCI, pacemaker and complex device implantation

Senior leadership post alongside his full time role as a consultant cardiologist. In this position Dr Qasim was responsible for service delivery, finance, governance, clinical quality and transformation across these hospital departments and their related integrated community services:
- Emergency Department, Medicine, Medical Specialties, Surgery, Surgical Specialties, Theatres, ITU, Women’s Health and Maternity 
- Managed a £100m budget and led a team of 1,200+ staff. 
- Spearheaded system-wide transformation across hospital and community settings 
- Served on the NHS London Clinical Leadership Group (2011-2015) and chaired the NHS Southwest London Urgent and Emergency Care Review (2015) 
- Following my tenure in this Clinical Director role, I supported redesign of this one directorate into three new directorates.
